Problem #1: Your Headline is Boring or Begging
"B.Tech student | Seeking internship" That’s not a headline. That’s a status update from 2010.
Fix: Make it value-driven.
“AI/ML Enthusiast | Building Projects That Solve Real Problems | Open to Internships in Data Science” You’re not just looking—you’re doing. Show that.
Problem #2: You Look Like a Blur
No profile picture? Cropped wedding photo? Sunglasses selfie?
Fix: Upload a clean, confident photo.
Neutral background. Direct eye contact. Business casual. You don’t need a DSLR—just decent lighting and clarity.
Problem #3: Your About Section Is a Wikipedia Stub
If your “About” section says:
“I am a student pursuing XYZ and I like to learn…” Please delete it now.
Fix: Tell a story in 3 lines.
Who you are
What you’re good at
What you’re looking for
Example:
Passionate about using data to solve business problems. Currently working on ML models for social impact. Looking to apply my skills in a fast-paced internship where learning never stops.
Problem #4: No Proof = No Trust
All text, no projects? No links? No metrics?
Fix: Add 2-3 portfolio items.
Link GitHub repos
Showcase a college project with results
Add certifications with context (what did you build/learn?)
No one wants to “guess” what you’re good at.
Problem #5: You're Not Searchable
If your skills don’t show up in search, recruiters will never find you.
Fix: Add 10 relevant skills to your profile.
Use the Skills section properly. Don’t just write “leadership” and call it a day.
Use terms recruiters search: ✅ “Python,” ✅ “Data Analysis,” ✅ “Digital Marketing,” ✅ “UI/UX Design.”
Bonus: Add the Internship Magnet
Turn on “Open to Work” → Select Internship Write a short pitch under “Add a note” when applying.
Final Words
If your LinkedIn is just a static résumé with no story, no proof, and no personality, you're invisible.
Spend 30 minutes. Polish it. Tell your story. Show your value. Because when your LinkedIn speaks for you, internships listen.
Share this with someone who's still using “B.Tech | Looking for opportunity” as a headline.
Your next break might just be one profile update away.
